Rooted in Tradition, Focused on the Future
I’m Sam Reeder—a fourth-generation Stockbridge resident with real-world experience in property management and community service. Running for the Town Board as a proud Republican, my goal is simple: to protect our rural charm and ensure that renewable energy projects are safe and smart, preserving our green spaces for future generations. Join me in safeguarding the heart and soul of Stockbridge.

About Sam Reeder
Thank you for visiting my site, my name is Sam Reeder and I am running as a Republican for the Town of Stockbridge Town Board. As our community is changing with potential for growth and improvement, I hope that you will join in to explore how to keep our beautiful rural atmosphere and retain our peaceful community.
Family Legacy
The Reeder family is four generations of Stockbridge residency, starting with my grandparents Sam and Mabel (Weir) Reeder, Sr. and his millwright business formerly located on Park St. My parents and my five siblings grew up on Station Hill Rd. and enjoyed the benefits of small-town living. Much has changed over the years and I anticipate that more change is yet to come. It is my goal to represent the citizens of the Stockbridge District in protecting the future personality of our home.
Education & Professional Experience
After graduating from Canastota CSD, I attended SUNY Canton, NY and earned an AAS in Automotive Technology in 1979. Joining the US Army in 1980, I was stationed at Ft. Bragg in the 18th Airborne Corps (I am not airborne) and then transferred to Schofield Barracks, HI with the 25th Infantry Div. until Honorably Discharged in 1986. From there I stayed in Hawaii, working in Property Management until 1997. My employer moved me to manage several residential properties in Ohio and eventually transferred to Niagara Falls, NY. I dedicated over 30 years in Property Management; specializing in operations, development, budgeting, contract negotiations and community relations and was fortunate to have been able to improve and streamline the portfolios I had been given. The last nine years before retirement I worked for The Salvation Army, recruiting volunteers, and raising funds to assist small towns to provide emergency assistance to their residents. In 2013, I returned to Munnsville and am thoroughly enjoying being back to the quiet and friendly life of a farming community.
Campaign Platform
If elected to the Town Board, I plan to collaborate with our residents to ensure our interests are protected. Of particular concern is the growing footprint of the so-called “renewable energy” projects within our district. We need to monitor that our green spaces and farmland is protected from taxpayer-funded initiatives that may not have the long-term interests of Stockbridge in mind. Companies that are leasing or buying property to install solar and wind farms must have third-party held funds set aside to remediate and restore the sites from potentially hazardous waste left behind if these projects fail or are abandoned. Also, these projects should be placed on sites that are not suitable for farming or residential use and not built on wooded areas that protect the environment. Because of the inflated cost of state and federal bureaucracy that threaten the livelihood of the small farmer, we need representation that will offset the lure of relinquishing our property in favor of the family farm and lush green space that we have always enjoyed.
Community Involvement
Our Town Board has done an excellent job thus far and I would be proud to assist in any way I can to represent you and look for ways to improve Stockbridge. Board meetings are held on the first Monday of the month at 7:30pm. at the municipal building at Carlon Field. Thank you for considering me for your support!
